Simple to throw together and incredibly flavorful — this Crockpot Beef and Broccoli is better than takeout and comes together easily in your slow cooker.

I keep a short list of slow cooker recipes that I rely on again and again. They’re dependable, tasty, and perfect for busy nights — and this Crockpot Beef and Broccoli is one of them. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t posted it here before, so tonight I made it again and wrote it down to share. It’s fast to prep, requires minimal hands-on time, and yields tender, savory beef with bright steamed broccoli over rice.

To prepare, place sliced flank steak, diced onions, minced garlic, and ground ginger in a 4-quart crockpot. In a bowl combine beef (or chicken) broth, soy sauce, packed brown sugar, sesame (or vegetable) oil, and red pepper flakes. Pour the sauce over the steak, cover, and cook on low for 3–4 hours or on high for about 2 hours, until the steak is tender.

When the meat is cooked, stir in cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Serve over prepared white rice and top with freshly steamed broccoli. Spoon the beef and sauce over the broccoli and rice, and finish with extra red pepper flakes if you like a little heat.
