Mirrors

Mirrors are inspiring objects: they reflect light, expand space and capture moments. A well-placed mirror can brighten a room, introduce depth, and lift the mood. While mirrors sometimes prompt moments of self-critique—whether over a few pounds or a rough hair day—today we choose to focus on the joy they bring into our homes.

“The world is a looking-glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face. Frown at it, and it will in turn look sourly upon you; laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly kind companion; and so let all young persons take their choice.”
― William Makepeace Thackeray

A hall of mirrors creates drama and depth with very little effort. It’s an elegant solution for narrow spaces or long corridors, multiplying light and adding instant interest.

Round mirrors add softness and charm. A cluster of circular mirrors can bring playful energy to a dining room or entry, pairing well with mid-century accessories or modern accents.

This is the perfect memory-making mirror.

Some mirrors do more than reflect surfaces—they capture memories. I imagine standing in front of a large mirror holding my first grandchild, remembering prom photos, awkward first dates and the small, sentimental moments that become family lore. A mirror like this holds laughter, tears and milestones, reflecting not just faces but the stories that shape a life.

On a personal note, my oldest son recently got engaged while visiting his grandparents. He chose a meaningful place for his proposal, and that family-centered moment is the kind of memory that a mirror will keep alive for years: the excitement, the surprise, the happy tears. These are the scenes I imagine replaying whenever I pass that mirror.

Simple Daily Challenge: Clean every mirror in the house. It’s a small task with a big payoff—sparkling glass instantly lifts a room and your spirits. When you’re done, go make some happy memories to reflect on.
