Ride the Astro Orbiter: Space-Themed Orbit Spinner Guide

Astro Orbiter is a planetary spinning attraction high above Tomorrowland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Board a two-person rocket and soar past planets and constellations.

Astro Orbiter above The People Mover in Tomorrowland.

Similar in concept to Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Astro Orbiter is a classic spinning ride positioned atop Tomorrowland. Riders sit in retro-futuristic rocket vehicles that rotate around a central hub while rising and falling, offering sweeping views of the park. The attraction is especially striking after dark when its lights illuminate the night sky.

Location:

Astro Orbiter is located in Tomorrowland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The ride platform sits above ground level, and guests access it via an elevator that takes you up to the boarding area. Expect to climb one level above the PeopleMover platform to reach the attraction.

Lightning Lane:

There is no Lightning Lane for Astro Orbiter. Lines are often moderate, but waits can grow during peak crowds. Part of the queue process includes elevator loading, which can add to the overall wait time.

Height and Age:

Astro Orbiter has no minimum height requirement. The ride is suitable for guests of all ages, though families with very young children should consider the ride’s height and motion before boarding.

Handicapped Accessibility:

The attraction accommodates guests with disabilities. Riders must be able to transfer from a wheelchair or ECV into the ride vehicle; Disability Access Service (DAS) is available. Wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles can be taken to the ride entrance for transfer assistance.

Ride Review:

Astro Orbiter delivers a fast, elevated spinning experience in a nostalgic space-age setting. While similar in principle to other aerial spinning rides, Astro Orbiter is higher and tends to spin more quickly, creating a stronger sensation of flight. The open-air view across Tomorrowland adds excitement — and for guests with a fear of heights it can be intense. For the best visual experience, ride after sunset when the attraction and surrounding park lights create a vivid, immersive scene.
