Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe: How to Make a Café-Style PSL at Home

I was asked by Carusele to participate in this campaign, sponsored by Splenda Stevia Canada. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own.

Thanksgiving in Canada will arrive before we know it, and I’m already planning. I haven’t hosted Thanksgiving in several years, and this will be my first time celebrating with my fiancé’s family, so I want everything to be just right.

I’ll be serving an indulgent seasonal drink that’s rich, creamy and full of pumpkin spice — but without the added sugar. If you love pumpkin spice as much as I do, this Pumpkin Spice Latte is a must-try. It delivers all the classic flavours with none of the guilt.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

This Pumpkin Spice Latte uses familiar ingredients — milk, pumpkin, vanilla, coffee and pumpkin pie spice — but no sugar. My secret is Splenda® Stevia No Calorie Sweetener, which provides sweetness without the calories and without a bitter aftertaste.

For a related idea, try a pumpkin spice creamer to add to other drinks.

Splenda® Stevia is available in several formats to suit different uses:

  • Packets for single-serve use
  • Table-top jar for daily use
  • Liquid sweetener for beverages
  • Granulated form for baking

For this recipe I used the table-top jar. One teaspoon of the jarred Splenda® Stevia equals the sweetness of two teaspoons of sugar but without the calories.

I even sweetened the whipped cream topping with Splenda® Stevia. It whipped up light and fluffy — I nearly ate it straight from the bowl.

How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte

Combine the milk, pumpkin puree and Splenda® Stevia in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk until smooth and heat for about 7 minutes, until the mixture is hot but not boiling.

Remove the pan from the heat and whisk in vanilla extract, a cup of hot coffee and pumpkin pie spice. Divide into four mugs.

Top each latte with whipped cream sweetened with Splenda® Stevia, then sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice on top. A cinnamon stick makes a pretty garnish and adds extra aroma.

They make an excellent Thanksgiving beverage or an afternoon treat to curl up with a good book.

Why Choose Splenda® Stevia No Calorie Sweetener

I’d been looking for a stevia that works well in both cooking and baking, and Splenda® Stevia has become my go-to. It’s available across Canada and doesn’t have the bitter aftertaste some stevia products do. Splenda® Stevia is sourced from the sweeter part of the stevia leaf, giving it a cleaner taste.

Because it’s calorie-free and non-GMO, I can make favourite recipes healthier while still enjoying sweet flavours. I’ve personally seen results from cutting back on sugar and carbs, and having a reliable sweetener makes it easier to stick to healthier habits.

Splenda® Stevia is available in many stores across Canada in different formats to suit all kinds of recipes and beverages.

Serving Pumpkin Spice Lattes

I plan to make this recipe for my fiancé’s family at Thanksgiving and serve it with dessert. Pumpkin pie can be made with Splenda® Stevia too, so you can keep a consistent, lower-sugar menu without sacrificing flavour.

This latte also makes a cozy afternoon pick-me-up. Imagine a warm mug, a soft blanket and a quiet moment — perfect fall comfort.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

I hope you add this Pumpkin Spice Latte to your recipe collection and enjoy it with family this Thanksgiving. I’d love to hear how it turns out and whether your guests can tell it’s sugar-free.

For more warm drink ideas, try variations like chai, cinnamon cappuccino, maple latte or peanut butter hot chocolate. For a cold option, an iced honey almond milk latte is refreshing and delicious.
