Crack Chicken Dip is a creamy, cheesy, bacon-filled chicken dip with a touch of heat — a perfect appetizer for parties, game nights, or casual gatherings.

This quick and flavorful dip combines tender chicken with melted cheeses, crispy bacon and a spicy ranch seasoning for a crowd-pleasing snack. It bakes up easily in a skillet, but you can also prepare it in a casserole dish if preferred.

Crack Chicken Dip Ingredients

Below are the ingredients used to make this rich, savory dip. See the recipe card for exact quantities.

  • Cream cheese: full fat works best for a rich texture; reduced fat can be used if desired.
  • Sour cream for creaminess and tang.
  • Spicy ranch mix: adds seasoning and heat; substitute regular ranch if you prefer milder flavor.
  • Cooked chicken: canned chicken is convenient and moist, but shredded rotisserie or leftover cooked chicken work well.
  • Diced green chiles: contribute a gentle, smoky spice; omit if you want no heat.
  • Bacon: cooked and crumbled for salty, smoky crunch.
  • Monterey Jack cheese: mild, melty cheese; any similar melting cheese can be substituted.
  • Pepper Jack cheese: adds a little extra kick; swap for another cheese if preferred.
  • Chives: thinly sliced for a mild onion finish (optional).

How to Make Dip in a Skillet

This recipe is designed for a 9-inch cast iron skillet (8- or 10-inch will also work) or a 1-quart baking dish.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine creamy ingredients. In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and sour cream until smooth, then stir in the ranch mix.
  3. Add the mix-ins. Fold in the chicken, diced green chiles and crumbled bacon. Stir in about 3/4 cup of the Monterey Jack and the pepper Jack cheese, and mix in a tablespoon of chives if using.
  4. Assemble. Spread the mixture evenly in the skillet or baking dish and top with the remaining cheese.
  5. Bake. Bake until the dip is bubbly and the cheese is fully melted, about 20 minutes.
  6. Garnish and serve. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with extra chives, and serve hot.

What to Serve with Crack Chicken Dip

This dip pairs perfectly with crackers, tortilla chips, pita chips, sliced baguette, or fresh vegetables like celery and bell peppers. Serving it directly from the skillet keeps it warm and creates an appealing presentation — just warn guests that the pan will be hot.

You can also use the dip as a flavorful filling for pull-apart bread or similar party breads for a fun twist.
